Welcoming Iván González to the STS Technical Design Team

Iván González (1)

Did you know that the STS Technical Design team has a state-of-the-art engineering / manufacturing facility in Monterrey, Mexico? Well, we do, and our entire group down there is doing some serious incredible work; work that covers a variety of niche service offerings including automation, mechanical design, low and highly yield manufacturing, 3D printing, production line improvement and quality insurance. At this facility, our experienced team of experts, including new hires like Ivan González, continue to provide its global customer base with exceptional solutions for those on a tight budget.

But enough of about us. If you want to learn more about our team’s engineering, automation, product development and additive manufacturing services, you can always check out our website. And since we came here today to introduce a new team member, let’s go ahead and get to that, shall we?

Everyone, meet Ivan González, STS Technical Design’s newest Design Engineer based out of Monterrey, N.L. México.

In order to help you get to know Ivan a little bit better, we asked him three questions and his answer are below.

Thanks so much for taking the time today, and Ivan, welcome to the team! We are very excited to have you.

Tell us a little about your professional background, education and / or experience?

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronic Engineer from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, and I’m currently working on obtaining my Master’s Degree in Industrial and Business Administration. Since 2016, I have worked for an automotive company where I developed skills in different positions as a designer of production lines in the project department and maintenance area.

What do you like to do for fun when you are not working?

When I’m not working, I like making home improvements, painting a room or building something new. I also enjoy having a BBQ with my family and friends. But when I really need to relax, I go fishing and camping for a few days… far away from the city.

If you could be any superhero, which superhero would you be and why?

I would be Batman! No question about. Why? Because is my favorite superhero. He took control of his fears and used them as motivation. Heck… he doesn’t even need superpowers!

STS Additive Manufacturing Adds New Formlabs Printers; Now Offers Biomedical Parts Printing

BROOKFIELD, December 1, 2020 — STS Additive Manufacturing (STS), a division of STS Technical Group and an industry leader in modern 3D printing solutions, recently added a series of Formlabs Form 3B printers to its growing mix of production tools. With these new printers and the BioMed clear resin they deploy, STS is now fully equipped to print biomedical devices and parts for customers on either short or large-yield runs.

“There has been a lot of exciting growth opportunities in the medical design field as of late,” said Benjamin Heard, Project Manager & Additive Manufacturing Engineer for STS Additive Manufacturing. “Moving forward with this new Formlabs system gives us a much wider array of medical-grade resins to work with, and many of these resins are easily autoclaved, which is really exciting.”

The Formlabs Form 3B ecosystem is optimized to produce high-quality dental parts and biocompatible appliances that include medical devices and device components, jigs and fixtures as well as surgical planning / implant sizing tools. Parts printed with BioMed clear resin are compatible with common sterilization methods, and resins being used by STS Additive Manufacturing are me manufactured inside of the company’s ISO 13485 facility and supported by an FDA device master file.

“As STS Additive Manufacturing continues to explore new and emerging markets in the DFAM & 3D printing space, the medical device field seemed like the next logical step in our evolution,” said Rick Koenig, President of STS Technical Group. “3D printing and additive manufacturing technologies with medical applications are relatively new and innovative, and this affords our company a tremendous opportunity as we continue to expand our team’s additive manufacturing solutions and capabilities.”

All BioMed parts being printed by STS Additive Manufacturing can be medically sterilized at the customer’s request. Small batch and high-yield production run are now available, and if you would like to learn more and / or request a quote, please visit: www.sts-ts.com/additive-manufacturing-services.

STS Additive Manufacturing Partners with Big Systems and Markforged

A leading technical design company based out of Wisconsin teams up with two 3D printing powerhouses on an all new project that will deliver the country’s best metal and composite additive manufacturing services.

Brookfield, WI, November 28, 2018 – The excitement that’s driving a boom in additive manufacturing is tangible. Everyone’s talking about its potential, and everyone with even the smallest stake is looking to leverage the emerging technology and fold it into their daily business routines. Recognizing that fact, STS Additive Manufacturing, a division of STS Technical Design, has joined forces with Big Systems and Markforged to become one of the very first companies in the United States to utilize the brand new Markforged Metal X 3D Printer.

Quite simply, the Markforged Metal X 3D Printer aims to reinvent manufacturing. It is the world’s most advanced and accessible 3D metal printer, one that is revolutionized by its award-winning hardware, design and unmatched results.

“The Markforged Metal X printer is worth getting excited about,” iterates Rich Ciampa, Director of Design Services and Additive Manufacturing for STS Technical Design. “Our customers can initially have their parts printed in 17-4PH stainless steel, with H-13 tool steel and other materials coming online in the months ahead. What’s even more exciting is that this new partnership with Big Systems and Markforged allows STS Additive Manufacturing to become one of the first companies in America to offer this new technology on a large scale.”

Big Systems, which is already one of the nation’s leading providers of 3D printers, will partner with STS Additive Manufacturing and use the Markforged Metal X printer as a way to demonstrate the printer’s robust capabilities to its ever-growing, global client base. Having this demo capability creates a unique opportunity for Big Systems to help make metal 3D printing a mainstream staple throughout the manufacturing industry.

“To be able to present the amazing metal 3D printing capabilities on the new Markforged Metal X 3D printer to our customers is an opportunity too good to pass up,” states Joe Jones, President and Owner of Big Systems. “We’ve been able to offer 3D printing solutions for years now, and to be able to add metal printing into the mix, particularly metal 3D printing with superior quality at affordable prices, yeah, I’d say this is a complete game-changer.”

In addition to adding metal 3D printing capabilities via the Markforged Metal X printer, STS Additive Manufacturing will also begin to implement robust, 3D composite printing services via a recently acquired Markforged Mark Two printer.
